Receiving a fresh flower bouquet is always a delightful moment! To keep your flowers looking vibrant and beautiful for as long as possible, follow these simple steps:
Most bouquets come wrapped in paper or plastic, which should be removed to let the flowers breathe. However, if your bouquet is arranged using wet floral foam (where the flowers are inserted into a water-soaked base), you don’t need to unwrap it. Simply place it on a stable surface and add water to the foam every couple of days to keep the flowers hydrated.
For hand-tied bouquets, use sharp scissors or pruning shears to cut 1–2 cm off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle. This helps the flowers absorb water better. Re-trim the stems every couple of days for the best results.
Place your vase in a cool area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts. Keep it away from ripening fruits, as they release ethylene gas that can shorten the life of your flowers.
Fresh flowers bring joy and elegance to any space, and with these tips, you can enjoy their beauty for days longer. Need flower care supplies or want to learn more about handling flowers? Visit our flower shop and register for our DIY Flower Arrangement Classroom.
